My Heart Must Speak By: Momma Tee April 22, 2008 On Sunday April 20th I was both privileged and honored to partake in one of the most soul touching events that I have been party to in quit some time. Jammin Joe’s in Westminster held a benefit / fundraiser hosted by Jerry Roys (journalist / musician) for local musician Janell McElwain (Founding Member with husband Mark of Sound town Music) she also played bass guitar/vocals for Mario and the Durango Band. Janell is now fighting cancer with her beloved husband mark and family by her side. Sunday was just a taste of just how many friends this precious woman has and that some folks in today’s society really do care. Among the entertainment was Hazel Miller who serenaded Mrs. McElwain with a soul searching rendition of “Amazing Grace” where the whole house joined in on the last course and left hair standing on the arms of all in attendance. I pondered on this event all that evening upon returning home realizing just how blessed most of us are or should be to be healthy as so very many of us take so much for granted. Let’s all take a moment for Janell and say a prayer that she too will be restored to good health, The Lord tells us in his own words that where two or more are gathered together I am in the midst of thee. Believe me people everyone who was there that night can attest to the truth of that! I would like to challenge everyone reading this to in the coming weeks seek out two people you think can use a blessing and do something kind for that person, weather it be buying the person behind you in starbucks their cup of coffee or going through your closet and taking some of your clothes and shoes or even a coat or a blanket to a homeless person or if you go out to a restaurant and you see someone dinning alone pay for their meal, then tell them the only thing you want in return is for that person to do something kind for two other people. Let’s bring back the “Pay it forward” “Random act of kindness” whatever you want to call it…. God calls us to be kind to one another but all too often we get wrapped up in our own personal issues that really pale in comparison to others truly in need. So please pass this along and let’s pull together as the brothers and sister that we are suppose to be to each other and make a difference in someone else’s lives. Bottom line is We only have one life and when it’s all said and done, will you be able to hear “Well done my good and faithful servant” ? Make EVERYDAY count, Blessings, MommaTee
